Leipzig Airport (LEJ) Information: View showing the Augustusplatz in the summerServing over two million passengers per year, Leipzig Halle Airport (LEJ) is a busy, dual-terminal facility providing an essential gateway into and out of the Federal State of Saxony in Germany. Flights from the airport serve domestic cities such as Frankfurt, Munich, Dortmund and Dusseldorf, and EU destinations such as Mallorca, Paris and Fuerteventura.

Leipzig Halle Airport is located around 18 km / 11 miles north-west of the city centre and in the Kursdorf area, being close to Beuditz, Freiroda, Glesein, Radefield and Schkeuditz. The airport comprises two terminals and runways, which handle in excess of 45,000 flights per annum. It is known locally in Germany as the Flughafen Leipzig Halle GmbH and also goes by the alternative name of Schkeuditz Airport.


Motorways A9 and A14 provide access for drivers, being clearly signposted along the way and linking Leipzig Halle Airport with ease. For those requiring public transport or otherwise, there are Airport Express (Flughafen Express) trains to major German cities running twice-hourly, operated by German Railways, regular buses into the city of Leipzig, and taxis for door-to-door services to a range of destinations, including the city's historic Old Town (Altstadt).
